Sophie and I have noticed that Disney movies have a disturbing trend. The Mom is always dead. Well about 90% of the time. I guess it is really only disturbing if your a mom, but for instance here are some of the Disney movies that fit this trend:
Finding Nemo
Bambi - well at least at the end
Cinderella (implied, but also maybe the Dad)
Mulan
Angles in the Outfield
Dumbo
Lilo and Stitch (both parents)
Chicken Little
Snow White
Pocahontas
A Goofy movie
The Little Mermaid
The Lion King (Mom never mentioned, Dad gets killed though)
The Game Plan
Also Sophie says there are a lot of wicked step mothers and she says that sets a bad example like women can't be nice.
